remember friendster?
Oh my goodness I just laughed so hard watching this video! This is absolutely ridiculous and hilarious!

Does anyone still remember good ol' Friendster? At all?
Poor friendster who got K.O-ed completely by Facebook.

Sigh if you don't remember our past friend(ster), it's fine. As the title of the mad funny clip speaks:

(The video's in the form of some bogus news report on Good Morning America, where the 'newscasters' interview this 'Internet Archaeologist' who discovered the ruins of the Friendster civilisation... It's so real hahaha!)

Internet Archaeologists

Find Ruins Of 'Friendster' Civilization

On a sidenote, went over to give friendster a visit...
(Maybe the video was meant as an advert hahaha. If it was, it works.)

And this is how our old friend looks like now:

Oh, boy. Kinda overly-vibrant for a dead site?

As with someone's comment below the video, I end:
"Will this happen to facebook?"

read for the month (this post sounds so intellectual!! haha!)
It's the holidays! And what a holiday it is, with absolutely nothing on our hands. Like seriously nothin' kinda nothing.

Started reading again recently (: Feels good, considering I haven't read in ages. Reading like leisure reading (:

Currently workin' on (hahaha why am I speakin' gangsta talk) David Crystal's "Txtng- The Gr8 Db8".

It's been an extremely insightful read so far. Am impressed. It speaks of the evolution of social norms and of plain English, as brought about by technology changes and well, texting.

The title's really cool right (:

Hahaha books that work for me are mostly those with cool titles and nice covers. I think book covers are important. It's quite sad how some good books have not-so-good covers. Oh but on the other hand, sometimes book covers are really nice and pretty and make you pick it up... only to find that it's but a weh-weh book.

Er am I making sense?

Anyways, I'm currently at Chapter 4 of the book. A section of the book I read today jumped out really loudly.

And I quote, "(Mobile phones) have also created new disciplines and power-geometries, the need to be continuously available to friends and lovers, and the need to always carry a functioning mobile device."

"Text messaging seems to have increased our expectancy that we are mutually accessible."

How true, and how sad! Handphones have changed the world so much. Too much, perhaps. I think people get quite annoyed when they text me, (hahaha so American- texting), 'cos I usually don't reply. In the book, it says it's quite rude apparently, 'cos you leave the other party wondering if the message reached you, or if it was left drifting in cyberspace due to technical issues, another possibility's that the content/tone of the message was inappropriate... So on so forth.

Of which I wish I could go on to analyse why I don't reply messages.. But The Mentalist is showing in 6 minutes and I am going to dash out into the living room and eat 汤圆 (Happy 冬季, everyone!)

Will come back and add on to this post later, if 'm still in the mood! :D

As for now, here're some text language for y'all to figure out.. (the book has so many of these it's dang amazing I never knew they existed super cool)

1. CMB
2. CWOT
3. SWDYT
5. YYSSW
6. ROTFLMAOWTIME

And guess what this is-
@(---`---`---

Woah if you can figure out all of the above (without using the Internet)... I seriously salute you.

Have fun (:

The Mentalist!!! ADIOS (:

Oh boy look at Meishan's cheek and Lingxin's shoulders. LOL.

Mirrored. (:

Dear all, if you haven't already noticed. The Golden Bottle and The Pink Bottle have been appearing in every single photo. Xiaoen apologises on The Owners' behalf. They... were not clever enough to realise their bottles were taking up half the screen - -"
('m serious, almost all the photos have the bottles - -")

The happy people (I'm er the tiny ghost spot if you're sharp.)
And the bottles.

A normal shot attempt.

CHINWEN YOU LOOK LIKE AHLIAN - -"

The Ah Lian turns into a teeth-y monster.

This effect freaks me out, seriously.

The Background People attempt to let some light reach our faces so that we don't look like black globs.

The black globs gave up and made hand silhouettes instead.

With Photobooth, you'll never need to worry about making funny faces.

Aurelia we look so cute!! Hahahaha (:

Sepia (:
Hahahaha I love candid shots! Chinwen pressed some funny button I think. Look at our faces LOL!

An attempt to give a stone/serious face.
Sarah... fail.

Er that's us trying to give sleepy faces..
And Pingzheng's already asleep - -"

Ling hasn't woken up yet..

This was when someone suddenly jumped to the foreground of the picture and smiled like a retard. Quite obviously who.

The End.

photobooth madness!
Went over to Cel's last week to play + swim! After lunch and an exciting round of pool (like seriously exciting, with balls flying out of the table and all :D) we went back to Cel's and started playing around with the Macbook. Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee we had quite a whale of a time (:

I miss those good ol' days when four of us were sitting together at the back of the class (:

It'll be like Evelyn on the left, crossing her legs on the chair (of which I picked up the habit) and eating her pens, plucking her lashes and destroying random rulers and papers...

Then I'll be beside her, trying very hard to keep up with the Math lesson and trying very hard to write nice, neat notes (because Tabitha was on my right), I'd be telling The Evil Teddy to stop chewing her pens, of which she'll continue to chew upon...

Then Tab'll be quietly writing in her mind-blowing-ly neat (yet awfully slow) handwriting, she'll always patiently explain Math and Science stuff when I don't understand (vice-versa for Chinese lessons, when I'd become her interpreter, kinda.)...

Then Celine, who was kinda far away so I couldn't really see what she was doing all the time. Absorbing all the information into her spongy, smart brain, I suppose (:

And it was quite funny whenever we came across difficult questions and stuff, like the question will get passed down the row, then the different levels of smartness will attempt to solve the puzzle. Of which yah lah, I was the smart one. (Levels ranged from smart to smartest.)

And I almost miss all the suan-ing! Evelyn will always break into the stupid "There's a ghost in the toilet" tune. (It's the only time we ever get to hear her sing.) Tab and Cel will always join in. And they'll shout really loudly at the end, "There's a ghost! :D" - -"

Tab'll always be singing. Like nice music-y stuff (: Her choir songs, random songs... And I will never forget how we tried to RAP out "At the Beginning". EPIC. Like RAP. Yo yo check it out kind.

Oh and I tell you the thing I miss most. THE FOUR OF US BEING THE SAME HEIGHT :D Sian, now I'm the shortest. Evelyn's grown a lot since Sec 2 - -" She's now some cool, quite-tall-not-really senior-ish senior heeee. (Evelyn I know you're reading this.) Then Celine's grown also. (: Okay Tab thinks she hasn't grown much. But er I think I haven't grown at all. Sigh. Hahahaha but okay we were once the same height. 8)

Ohman I think we've all grown (not height-wise) quite a bit since then (: Actually we don't really talk much/catch up in school. Not really. It's kinda sad, but hee never mind la (: And then our classrooms are all like on the 1st (Evelyn), 2nd (Tab) and 3rd (Cel & I) floor. Still, there's the occasional keep in touch! Which is really nice (:

Hmmm so yeah that's about it (: I think the bunch of us have had a lot a lot a lot of fun and laughter together and it's quite cool because when we meet up it's simply to go to someone's house to play. Like play (: Primary school kinda play- beading (I cannot bead for NUTS), Playstation (cannot DDR for NUTS), GuitarHero (cannot play for NUTS)... And do random stuff like hit billiard balls out of the table. (Evelyn.) (Is it called Billiards or Pool?!!) Aiyah it's just really fun to be around the three of them (: Actually I think we're seriously very very different, but.. I like us :D Heeeeeeee. We may or may not still keep up with each other and go out together in JC, but whatever it is, (hopefully we will lah) (Tab must initiate) Thank you TabCelEvil (:

<3>

Okay heeeeeeeeeeeeeeee this is getting so gluey and wishy. Why do I keep using heeeeeeeeeeeee nowadays (: Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. Without further ado, here's Our Photobooth Collection!! ;D

The Story of Roosterice.
So................. The Roos people are on a quest to unravel the mystery of Roosterice. Like, the what-on-earth-happened-along-the-way-why-is-their-name-so-weird?! mystery.

I er, wonder too. What-on-earth-happened-along-the-way-why-is-our-name-so-weird?!

Chin, Ling, Rah and I will be blogging our versions of what happened. Hee.
'Cept that Chinwen's post just disappeared. Lingxin is too lazy too type. Sarah and I can't really think at the moment.

The posts will come soon... Kinda. Keep a lookout; we'll be posting around the same time. (:

And they're probably going to be very different. (I mean, no one's English can be as bad as Chin's.)
Hee different standpoints. Like Chinwen will go, "SO CUUUUUUUUUTE RIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" And mine will probably be like... "Lame."

Till then.

Four years. Part one.
This is my third attempt at this post. Reflections. Sorta.
Somehow the words just don't seem to come out right.

Anyways the past four years in Nanyang... I can almost say it's been the best time of my life. We've all grown tremendously, and the friends, teachers and people I've met along the way... Thank God for all of you.

I give up trying to type thematically/chronologically. Whatever comes to mind.

Seniors
I think seniors undoubtably play this almost-divine, important role beyond comprehensible imagination. Juniors look upon seniors with this supreme awe, because seniors are the coolest people ever. Sometimes we become very conscious when the seniors are around, because that teeny bit of you will want to impress your senior that teeny bit. Along corridors, seniors are given superiority-ness according to the colour of the rectangular tag on their uniform. Or maybe even by the colour of their once-white uniform. Haha!

Seniors have been very inspiring in my four years of Nanyang life. I will never, ever forget my PSL in Sec 1. Her name was Peishi... I think. (Hee except the name.) Sub-consciously, I think a part of myself tried to model after her when I became a PSL. She was a very loud and rah-rah person. Made funny jokes and tickled our class pink when we all laughed at her. She cheered Nanyang cheers loudly and made funny noises as she went about breaking that deathly-silent ice on every Sec 1 class' first day at school. I hope that somehow, somewhat, I've been able to inspire my PSL classes too. 106'07, 111'08, 113'09... Maybe someday they'll look back and laugh at their has-been PSL and remember me too :) So, thank you, Peishi (I think that's your name :D) for inspiring others to inspire others (:

(Reflections on PSL later...)

Being in a UG, seniors have an altogether different meaning. Kinda. I remember being terribly terrified of my CLs and ACLs. Especially when we were in Sec 1. Woah, it's that kind of terrified when you turn and walk down the other way when you see your seniors along the school corridor. I... am still terrified of them. Some. But seniors are still so cool at the end of the day, you'd secretly watch them from afar and think how cool they are, haha! And then you'd think how good they are at turfing and firelighting, and how you'll wanna be like that one day. Seniors will always be a topic to talk about among batchmates. They're just cool lah. 8) Heeeeeeeeeeeeee. It's quite sad 'cos some of them never do come back and visit anymore, though. ): It'll be nice if we can see them again. Only the memories linger on, almost vaguely.

Seniors have been, and will still be, some sort of figure for us to model after. We always looked at the seniors in awe and wondered why they could be adept with the ropes and spars, changkul, footdrill, firelighting... It's strange to think how we've, over the years, become that figure for our juniors. Perspectives have shifted over time too; things tend to be viewed very, very differently. Perhaps we've all matured. Perhaps circumstances have changed. Perhaps everything has changed. It's a rite of passage that we've all gone through, and they will go through in time to come. Sometimes I'll step into my senior-perspective and try to imagine, albeit in avail, how I was like then. It's weird.

As a junior, you'll always wish for some sort of attention or recognition from your seniors. A hint to show that they know. As a senior now, the truth is, we do know. And a lack of a public recognition or sorts simply does not equate to any neglection. At all. I remember I was quite sad in Sec 1 and 2, 'cos all my batchmates had the chance to take turns and take on I/C-ship of various things big and small, but I was kinda left out. I was like, "When is it ever going to be my turn? ): " It was quite weird. Truth is, seniors take into consideration all sorts of things. Taking over the company and making all sorts of decisions has taught our batch how to. Now I look back and reckon my seniors probably wanted to encourage the other people in my batch to step upfront and take on new challenges. They probably already saw me and decided that it was good to strengthen our batch as a whole. And it did. We all took turns to take initiative, when it came for volunteers and stuff. It's nice to grow as a batch and let different people take on different things at different time. What matters most is that I never stopped growing. Neither did my batchmates. We never did take a step back simply because our other batchmates took a step forward.

And that was the best form of recognition our seniors ever gave us.

To my junior(s), I hope you read and understand (: You will, as you grow. And all of you will grow.

Somehow, though, I think our batch has re-defined certain aspects as seniors. It's good and bad in a way. Greater good than bad, perhaps? Times are very different now and then, anyway. It's quite mind-blowing to think how much things have changed in a span of four years. When I was in Sec 1, heaven knows if my seniors ever had blogs. And back then, just 4 years ago, there was no Facebook. Friendster was still in rage. You see, the point here is that we never had this much access to our seniors' world. Juniors are reading my blog right now, they know when I'm sad, I'm high, I'm downright depressed, I'm freaking annoyed.. They know I can't do Math for nuts, I'm really just a silly nut at heart... You get the drift? Back then, the only impression we had of our CLs was the image they portrayed during CCA sessions. The strict, don't-mess-around, loud, fierce one. We never dared to venture much into their world. (Remember? I'd turn and walk the other way back down the corridor.) We only caught a few glances of our seniors' Graces photos (and were dang amazed). It's so different altogether now. Technology.

But I'd say it's quite nice. To have a platform to access and reach out to people you wouldn't in real life. Cyber networking, almost. We used to have to go to the Guide board and check the programme schedule every week, now we have our company blog, where we can tag and write nice stuff to encourage each other. And it sorta brings more life and a touch of vibrance. Which is totally cool. (: But sometimes limits are greyed. I honestly wish for more privacy on my blog, really. But because Blogger doesn't have the private posting function (as with private single posts in Livejournal and Wordpress) (or maybe it does but I don't know it exists), sometimes I end up not posting at all, 'cos it's just weird to have different groups of people reading some stuff. I wish I were more frank and upfront like Yanquan in blogging. I seriously admire her blogging spirit.

I think it all boils down to respect. As children, we need to be respectful of the adults/parents/teachers reading our blogs. As seniors, we need to be mindful of our juniors reading. As juniors, we need to be respectful of seniors who read. It's all a co-relation thing. Very complicated. But I'm totally cool with random people reading, my parents access my blog now and then too, and it's totally cool. The cyber world is open and anyone and everyone. I think it's good to be frank in a polite way. (:

Okay I get this feeling this post is very long already. Am typing in Blogger and I fail at estimating the length of my posts.
Off to bed. Hopefully my patience will last through my reflective mood. Hee (:

Adios.
