Refer to the title of this post.
Mental, emotional meltdown. That is, when technology decides to fail you. Altogether.
Imma HUGE fan of all things tech-y. It's very intriguing and amazing, almost mind-blowing at the same time, when one takes a tour of all the new gadgets. Loooove, craving, addiction. (Oh golly. Control, Xiaoen.) DSLRs, Apple's new Magic Mouse (it is darn cool), laptops, photo printers, computers, phones.. ah.
It's a different story, however, when technology FAILS you. Trusty laptop crashed a while ago. Ok, fine. THEN, my dad's one crashed as well. And because my house does not believe in a desktop, we are currently living in a house with absolutely no computer or whatsoever. This handphone which yours truly is typing this post upon right now.. has been the only (super tiny) window to the cyber world. Speaking of the cyber world, I think it is too big for anyone's good, and many have already spiralled into it to a point of no return. The cyberworld will crash one day.
And everyone will lapse into huge fits and meltdowns. Imagine the sight. Scary.
So anyways, back to the story. After the demise of both laptops in the house.. my wonderful harddisk which tania cleverly found previously.. is spoilt. Haven't thought about thinking if it a)is really spoilt b)can be fixed c)can be salvaged. think a few thousand photos and documents.
Handphone is a bit wonky as well. Aah, my only window to the cyber world~
Ok actually i havent come to the zhong dian of the story yet. But anyways, the moral of the story (long story cut short) is that
1. Save your work periodically while doing. The stupid-ness of doing halfway and then something crashes/hangs/dies and-you-realise-that-all-your-effort-has-gone-down-the-drain is seriously darn stupid. Save your work, period.
2. Find out and KNOW the WEP key of your home's wireless network. Seriously dude.
3. Stay calm in the face of technical adversity. Humans triumph.
And the rest I forgot. Anyways, like the good ol' friendster status for relationships, "It's complicated." Complicated, it is. Golly, can you imagine how much more technology will continue to grow down the years? Scary. Exciting nonetheless!
We continue to hope fervently for homework-savvy robots. Let there be less machine guns, more nice happy funny huggable robots.
And may they never break down.
